The Founding Team

Choon Chng and Lynn Ooi, two young silicon valley engineers who both earned their masters from Stanford University and University of Washington respectively, were good friends and former co-workers at Sun Microsystems. They were constantly brainstorming and obsessing about trying to live the Silicon Valley dream of innovating on a great venture. The passion and determination was there and ready to go, what's missing was an idea with a worthy cause.

In mid 2006, Choon approached Lynn prior to a tennis game with the idea, a social networking site for healthcare. Within minutes, Lynn already had a list of features she would like the site to have, and the whole vision unveil in her mind. This idea struck close to her heart..

This is the great venture they were willing to give up their comfy steady job to realize the vision. Within weeks, they approached Brandon Ooi to join them as the CTO. Brandon graduated from UC Berkeley and is currently working in the leading edge of web technology in San Francisco. Getting Brandon to join the founding team was crucial, the only person they trust capable of leading the small engineering team to deliver a high quality site quickly. Brandon was quick to join as he thought, this is an idea that could really be helpful to people.

After several months developing the site, and many meetings brainstorming for a name for the site, and still no name. One fine day, Lynn suggested what do you think of Striving for wellness? That's a good theme. The name StriveWell was instantly a hit with the team and still available!

We are grateful to the team for their hard work and dedication, and to our friends and family who are always so supportive in every way. We couldn't have done this without you.
- Choon, Lynn and Brandon
